Summit of the Kneipp Associations

German and Austrian Kneipp Associations met for an exchange of ideas

The 200th anniversary of the naturopath's pastor Sebastian Kneipp takes place in 2021. On this occasion, the ‘Kneipp Year 2021’ is predestined to invite the European Kneipp associations to a summit meeting on the Zugspitze or Großglockner, as the President of the German Kneipp Association and Ombudsman of the Bavarian State Government, Klaus Holetschek, with his counterpart from Austria, Mag. Georg Jillich put it forward. The idea arose at the first exchange of ideas with the two leaders on the initiative of Ingeborg Pongratz, MdL a.D president of KneippWORLDWIDE, in Munich.

Since its founding in 1962 as the international confederation of the Kneipp movement, KneippWORLDWIDE is present in about 40 countries and has 89,500 members. The President of Kneipp-Austria Georg Jillich promises that Kneipp Association Austria will have added about 36,000 members to KneippWORLDWIDE by 2019. After the extremely successful International Kneipp Action Days (IKAT) 2017 in Styria, the great desire of the international community is considered. The invitation for the biennial IKAT goes to all Kneipp clubs and associations: the next meeting takes place in Szombathely / Hungary, from June 20 to 23, in 2019. The preparations are already in full swing with the local Kneipp association chairman, Dr med. Karoly Garda.

A meeting of this kind will be held with all presidents of the affiliated associations, such as South Tyrol, Switzerland, Hungary, Germany and Austria, annually. President Ingeborg Pongratz is expected to call the next meeting of the Presidential Council on the occasion of IKAT 2019, in Hungary 21st June.

As "Kneipping" is an "Intangible cultural heritage" since 2015, the association leaders also want to achieve the recognition of the UNESCO as a "cultural heritage of mankind" for Kneipp Year 2021 and thus carry the slogan "Kneipp is cult" in the world.

Prevention and thus health care, the welfare of toddlers (Kneipp in the day care centre) to the elderly (Kneipp in nursing) should be taught and offered to all people.

This is also the mission and purpose of the Kneipp associations and their umbrella organizations such as regional associations and the Kneipp Association. The Sebastian Kneipp Academy (SKA) and the Sebastian Kneipp School (SKS) in Bad Wörishofen offer a variety of training courses.
