President met President

Ingeborg Pongratz visited the South Tyrolean Kneipp Association

On 2 November 2017, the two Presidents, Kornelia Hölzl Gamper president of the South Tyrolean Kneipp Association, and the new President of Kneipp WORLDWIDE and Bavarian State Chairwoman Ingeborg Pongratz, met again in Meran / Algund for an exchange of ideas.

Ingeborg Pongratz talked of unforgettable memories of the International Kneipp Action Days 2015 in Bressanone as well as of the excursions to the Kneipp facilities in Prissian and Algund in the spring. The EU-initiated "hiking miles for health" in South Tyrol, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary and Germany are very well frequented, just like the newly created Kneipp facility in Vahrn, as Kornelia Hölzl Gamper explained.

To convince South Tyrolean communities new Kneipp-meetings are organized based on the five principles of the Kneipp philosophy namely water, nutrition, medical herbs, physical workout as well as life order. Kneipp facilities for water treading or for a cool arm bath should be developed. Several communities have already built up Kneipp facilities, others have lots of good ideas for the realization.

Upon the suggestion of mayor Ulrich Gamper, the municipal council in the municipality of Algund has decided to network the entire municipal area with the five elements of Kneipp and thus raise awareness in the population for this natural healing progress. What else could one name this project other than "HEALTHY IN ALGUND - KNEIPPING FOR OUR HEALTH". The "Kneipp News" of the South Tyrolean Association and the Facebook page are a good information medium for members and interested parties alike. The "South Tyrolean Kneipp Weeks and the many initiatives 2017” were very well received. The aim of the Kneipp movement is people’s health, so any voluntary work is highly appreciated.

Ingeborg Pongratz presented the priorities of the Bavarian State Association, with its 123 Kneipp clubs and approximately 20,000 members, 80 certified day care centres, eight certified senior citizen institutions and five certified schools.

In March, the "Academy for Social Education" in Dillingen and recently a children's meeting place with 120 children were certified in the rehabilitation clinic Alpenhof in Chieming / Chiemsee. They all live according to the Kneipp principles every day. Two projects were carried out in Bavaria for the employees in a correctional facility and at the Munich Airport. The annual program for 2018, including three regional meetings in the districts will be prepared at the meeting in Walting / Altmühltal on 25-26 Nov.

At the Kneipp-Worldwide level, the first plans for the International Kneipp Action Days (IKAT) 2019 in Hungary will be presented at the presidential council meeting and members' meeting in Bad Wörishofen in March 2018. The establishment of a Kneipp Association is planned in South Korea, contacts to Hong Kong and China exist. In neighbouring European countries, such as Holland, Denmark, France/Alsace contacts are to be made. Both presidents wish that the Kneipp Association Austria returns to the Kneipp family Kneipp WORLDWIDE.

Kornelia Hölzl Gamper and Ingeborg Pongratz agreed that in the European countries joint actions of the Kneipp associations should be organized with an annual event with local visits in local and regional politics, association of physicians and pharmacists, hospitals, rehabilitation clinics, etc.

In the future Kneipp members in the 40 countries will be informed more over the Internet.
In the first phase, the member associations and individual members should have the opportunity to introduce themselves. The two presidents agreed on holding another meeting in 2018.
