Ingeborg Pongratz is the new president

Presidential Council Meeting and International Kneipp Action Days in Styria

Bad Wörishofen, July 5, 2017 - Ingeborg Pongratz, chairwoman of the Kneipp Federation of the Bavarian State Association, was unanimously appointed as the new president of Kneipp WORLDWIDE at the presidency council meeting. "As a dedicated Kneipp health ambassador, I will tackle my new task with passion, joy and enthusiasm. To raise the sense of responsibility of our fellow human beings for an active and healthy life is a very important matter to me. Health is and remains our highest asset, "said the former member of the Bavarian State Parliament, who is amongst others, an active member of the Health Committee. The Presidential Council meeting took place in the context of the tenth International Kneipp Action Days (I.K.A.T.) in Styria, 15 June.

"People and their well-being are at the centre of attention to me - regardless of their age, gender or mindset", Ingeborg Pongratz continues the heritage of Sebastian Kneipp. Health promotion and prevention must begin as early as childhood: the sooner a health-conscious way of life is learned and becomes a part of everyday life, the better.
The Kneipp movement has created a successful model with the "Kneipp-Bund e.V. recognized day-care centres" and with affiliated, high-quality training and further education offers of the Sebastian Kneipp Academy.

Ingeborg Pongratz congratulated the Styrian organizers of the International Kneipp Action Days on a successful event and thanked the other European Kneipp associations for the good cooperation. The organizing team of I.K.A.T. Anne and Peter Knoll, Gerd Krakowitzer and Karl Huber have done a great job; it is also pleasing that there have been constructive talks with the new president of the Austrian Kneipp Association, Mag. Georg Jillich.

The President of the German Kneipp Association, Klaus Holetschek MdL, emphasized the importance of a strong cohesion: "Kneipp, who travelled all over Europe, shows how people here are united and share a vision of a healthy living. At times when we are constantly questioning whether we need Europe, these are exactly the right steps that bring people together. "Kneipp WORLDWIDE has not only got members in Europe, but also many people around the world have joined the association.

Pongratz, former Vice President of the Kneipp Federation, suggested further to expand the networks and cultivate good contacts. It is very gratifying that a Kneipp Association should be founded in South Korea, who then would like to become a member of Kneipp WORLDWIDE.

Initial discussions have already been held with the Hungarian Kneipp Association in view of the orientation of the next action days in 2019. In 2021, in the year of the 200th birthday of Sebastian Kneipp, the International Kneipp Action Days will take place again in Bad Wörishofen. With a bit of luck, the international Kneipp movement will be successful in its endeavours until then, to have ‘Kneipp’, in addition to the nationwide entry, included in the international list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
